What was the inspiration behind your collection and what elements are you most excited to share?

Justin Alexander

Justin Alexander combined a few influences for this collection. There are antique, Art Deco elements in the beading and 1950's influences with “New Look” silhouettes and classic Hollywood glamour. We have lots of beautiful lace dresses carrying on from our previous collection but we are most excited to share a new cleaner look (which we think will be the next big trend!). This new look consists of luxe fabrics such as heavy charmeuse and doubled chiffon in clean-cut graphic shapes and small, exquisite beaded details.

As an established designer what advice would you give to those who are just starting out?

Justin Alexander

Be true to who you are and know what elements make your point of view unique. Most of all think about real women with real bodies and do your research to find out who your demographic is. If you can make a woman feel beautiful, confident and comfortable no matter what her shape is, she will buy your design!

Bridal Fashion Week may only last 7 days but proper preparation takes weeks and sometimes months! What steps have you taken this market?

Justin Alexander

We have an amazing team that starts planning months in advance. We participate in many international shows every year, so we are very organized and everyone is tasked with a specific responsibility but at the end of the day we must work together as a team to get it all done.

Each national market has its own strengths. What is your favorite part of New York Bridal Fashion Week and what brings you back each year?

Justin Alexander

New York is an amazing fashion capital…there is a different energy in NYC that doesn’t compare to anywhere else in the world. We have a great customer base who loves to get inspiration and buy at this market. NYC is also filled with so many wonderful activities which makes it the perfect place for work and play!

We were so excited to announce our LA show!  What are your thoughts on COUTURE expanding to the west coast?

Justin Alexander

We have a fabulous team on the west coast and we can't wait to meet some of our best customers on their home turf.

Our show is a way for The Knot to better service our designer partners and connect them with our retailers. How do you think we can improve this process?

Justin Alexander

It would be great to introduce more forums where shops can learn from each other such as lectures or seminars about new sales ideas, digital marketing, shop design and styling trends. Many of our new customers come from our existing retailer recommendations. Shops can often feel isolated and if there was a way we could get more shops to collaborate and network I think it could be beneficial for both shops and suppliers.
